Task 2.1.5 in the Cesar project deals with the use of simulations to predict the potential benefit of altering the process flowsheet for the selected solvents. Here, the simulation results are shown specifically for the Cesar 2 solvent system, but they are compared to the corresponding results obtained with the Cesar 1 solvent system. The Cesar 2 study includes investigating the effect of the process modifications done at the Esbjerg capture plant and the effect of increasing reboiler pressure. The Cesar 2 model implemented in the CO2SIM flowsheet simulator was validated against the UNIKL data and the results of this were reported in deliverable D2.1.4. The results from validation against data from the Esbjerg campaign are shown here. Even though there are some deviations it can be concluded that the model is adequate although there are large uncertainties in the flow-rate measurements at the Esbjerg plant.
